Cosmeceutical skin care
The fundamentals of cosmetic skin care with an antiageing goal are well established. We believe we have the best products around to help you achieve optimal restorative and rejuvenative skin care with maximal comfort and appeal

Creams and lotions have been used since antiquity to try to halt and reverse the effects of ageing on the skin. And for the great majority of this time, there has been nothing available that had any real value in actually realising the claims made by the vendors of the creams.
But over the last fifteen years or so, medical and biopsy-proven evidence has accumulated in support of the real effects of a handful modern skin-care ingredients, and it is these ingredients that we focus upon in recommending skin care at Peach.

Cosmeceutical skin care

The word "cosmeceutical" has been coined as an amalgum of 'cosmetic' and 'pharmaceutical'  to describe cosmetic products that have pharmaceutical, i.e., biologically demonstrable, effects on skin. Then again, these ingredients are not and cannot be classified as drugs, since drugs generally require a doctor's prescription. Cosmeceutical active agents tend therefore to be naturally-occurring agents rather than synthetics (which is itself, in many minds, a reassuring feature of them).

So... what products do we actually like?

We carry a range of lines in order to meet the specific needs of all our patients. Different lines have different strong points and different weak points.
ASAP is a great introductory line for young skins whose owners are concerned about acne or otherwise want to freshen up their skin simply and inexpensively. Its major active is glycolic acid, and its SPF30+ daily moisturiser is light and inexpensive.
Environ was brought into the practice because it offers a range of strengths of Vitamin A, which is a fundamental cosmeceutical. We have learnt to recommend the stronger products from amongst the Environ range, as the others are gentle to the point of weakness, meaning that patients waste time applying creams with little potency when they could be getting better results with something else.
MD Formulations is now called True Solutions: see below
Skinceuticals is a top cosmeceutical line with two very pleasant but potent Vitamin C products, a couple of nice potent Vitamin A (Retinol) products, and a pleasant UV-screening moisturiser. Good quality, good potency, pleasant to use, one of our best lines.
True Solutions offer a wide range of products covering most of the fundamentals of cosmeceutical skin care, at reasonable prices. It is strong in Vitamin A and glycolic acid, with nice body products as well. Its SPF30+ moisturiser is a favourite.
Ultraceuticals is similar in price and quality to the True Solutions range, but focuses more on Vitamin C and lactic acid. Its another very solid and broad range offering good cosmeceutical-level care for good prices. (Several products we profoundly discount, such as the Vitamin C and the SPF30+ moisturiser).

But our top line is Cosmedix. This line is available only through medical practices. Several of the products carry within them levels of actives that you just don't find in any other brand. This is truly potent skin care. Furthermore, they add to their products the best of natural ingredients, such as African shea butter, to bring about changes to your skin that Western science have not yet fully explained.
Let's confess though that Cosmedix became our top line not because of marketing from the company or even specific research by Dr Mahony. Fact is, it became our top line after our beauty therapists tried it and loved it.

Cosmedix is similarly priced to the SkinCeutical range. At the more expensive end for true cosmeceuticals, but, in fact, still a lot less expensive than many "boutique" lines carried in department stores, lines with lots of glossy hype but little in real effect. We are continually stunned at the prices some of our patients pay elsewhere for jars of cream that do not contain recognised active ingredients (and if these expensive jars had anything in them of medical value, why aren't they presented at cosmetic medical conferences?)
By contrast, Cosmedix has medical grunt, delivered in a velvet glove. It's worth a try.
