Dr Tony Prochazka  MBBS FFMACCS

Dr Tony Prochazka is pleased to announce his success at the recent Examinations for Board Certification in Cosmetic Surgery, held in Singapore in January 2009 by the International Board of Cosmetic Surgery (IBCS).

Dr Prochazka writes:

"Board Certification is the process by which standardisation of specialist skills is achieved in many countries around the world, including the USA. It is slightly different from the Australian system, where both specialist training and final skills testing are supervised by the same body, usually a specialist college.

Eligibility requirements for the IBCS examination are strict. Once the Board's requirements for basic training are satisfied, the candidate must submit a detailed caselog of no less than 100 cases of major cosmetic surgery, covering operations such as facelift, eyelid surgery, body contouring, hair restoration and cosmetic medical procedures. If this caselog is deemed satisfactory, the candidate is admitted to sit a difficult written examination, followed by rigorous oral examinations conducted by the Board's senior examiners, who are drawn from all over the world.

Board Certification in Cosmetic Surgery by IBCS is difficult to obtain. Standards are high and the failure rate is significant. Successful certification implies that the examinee has achieved both a comprehensive level of theoretical knowledge, and an extensive caselog of practical experience, in all aspects of cosmetic surgery."

Dr Tony Prochazka is cosmetic physican skilled and experienced in the performance of liposculpture, blepharoplasty, thread facelifting and lower face/neck excisional lifting. He was the Inaugural Medical Dean of the Faculty of Medicine in the Australasian College of Cosmetic Surgery, of which Dr Mahony is a Fellow. 

Formerly at Sydney Image in the Westfield Towers, Bondi Junction, Dr Prochazka has now moved his Eastern Suburbs work to Peach whilst he maintains and develops his other professional interests at Campbelltown, Albury and Shanghai, China.
